In voluntary cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shindaiwa is recalling Model EB630 and EB630RT Professional Backpack Blowers.

PROBLEM: The 3rd muffler support at the base of the muffler can break off and hot exhaust gas can exit in the area of the fuel tank. This could create a fire and burn hazard.

PRODUCT: Shindaiwa Professional Backpack Blowers Model EB630 through Serial Number 6018839 and EB630RT through Serial Number 5114935

WHAT TO DO: Visually inspect the base of the muffler to verify the 3rd support bracket is intact and not damaged or broken. If cracked, broken or if there is any visual sign of muffler leakage in and around the bracket, DO NOT run the unit until the muffler has been replaced. Contact your dealer immediately about installing a new muffler (regardless of condition). The dealer has also been instructed to inspect the top of the fuel tank for any sign of damage or distortion. If found, the tank will also be replaced.

When your Shindaiwa dealer tells you the replacement muffler is in stock, bring your EB630 or EB630RT to the dealer and a new muffler (or muffler and tank) will be installed at no charge. (The dealer will dispose of the old muffler or muffler and tank).
